Using a File Transfer Protocol program . . .
|
To send files via FTP you will need to use an application like Fetch (http://fetchsoftworks.com/) or Transmit (http://www.panic.com/transmit/).
A service representative at Consolidated Printers can issue you a User ID and Password to use in the FTP login menu. A similar program for Windows called WS_FTP is available at the WS_FTP Web Site which offers a shareware version, or Bullit Proof FTP which will let you evaluate their program for 30 days. These programs typically sell for about $30-$40. |

Login information like User ID and Password are case sensitive.

Things that have caused problems with FTP: |
||||||||||
|
File has no suffix -
The letters at the end of your file name. For example ".doc" in myfile.doc (MS Word file), or ".qxd" in myfile.qxd (Quark file). File name is badly named - An underscore "_" if fine to use in place of a space or special characters and avoid capital letters. Do not make your file name too long. 8 characters is good, 50 is ridiculous and problematic. Wait for your file to upload completely - If you disconnect too soon we only get a broken/corrupt file.

If you want to compress folders and multiple files into a single file for transmission to our FTP site, modern computers often come with a built in application. On a Mac it's accessible with control+click or through "File" in the desktop tool bar. Look for "Create Archive". Otherwise we recommend the use of Stuffit for Mac, available from http://www.aladdinsys.com, or WinZip
for Windows, at http://www.winzip.com.
